Honda CB500 Hornet and CBR500R will enter the Indian market soon, know the features
New Delhi. Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has filed new patents for several motorcycles. Two of them are new 500 cc twins, the CB500 Hornet and the CBR500R. Come, let us know about these two bikes.
Engine and Specifications
Both motorcycles use the same 471 cc, parallel-twin cylinder engine, which produces 47 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 43 Nm at 6,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This is the same engine that powers the recently launched NX500.
Brakes and suspension
The Honda CB500 Hornet uses a steel diamond frame, suspended by 41 mm Showa separate function forks at the front and a link-type monoshock with 5-step preload adjustment at the rear.
The motorcycle rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, which are wrapped in a 120/70 section front tire and a 160/60 rear tyre. The weight of the bike is 188 kg and its seat height is 785 mm. If CB500 Hornet is launched in India, it will not have any direct competitor.
Talking about the CBR500R, it is a bit heavy with a curb weight of 192 kg, but its seat height is 785 mm. For 2022, the motorcycle got an update in the form of upside down forks replacing the telescopic units. Braking duties are performed by discs at both ends.
Additionally, both the motorcycles come with Bluetooth connectivity and a 5-inch TFT display with LED lighting. There is no direct rival to the CB500 Hornet, but if the CBR500R comes to the Indian market, it will compete against the Aprilia RS457, Yamaha R3, KTM RC 390 and the Kawasaki Ninja 500.
