Himachal: Two people arrested with 104 grams of heroin
Himachal Pradesh: The special cell of Baddi police arrested Satnam Singh, a resident of Amritsar, in a major drug bust and seized 104.57 grams of heroin from him. The arrest came on December 9, when Singh, who was travelling by bus, was searched at the Baddi bus stand following a tip-off. The officers recovered 44.15 grams of heroin from him. The arrest was followed by a raid at his residence in Amritsar, which led to the recovery of 60.42 grams of heroin, the biggest seizure so far since the formation of the district in 2009. Baddi SP Vinod Kumar said the police are now focusing on unearthing the network behind this massive operation. He said the large quantity of heroin seized suggests that Singh was part of a larger, organised drug smuggling operation targeting the industrial area. Efforts are on to identify and arrest other persons involved in the network. This seizure marks a change in the approach to tackling drug trafficking in Baddi, as previous seizures involved smaller quantities.
