Himachal: Tourism Director demanded to complete the construction of helipad in Lahaul-Spiti soon

Himachal Pradesh: In an important meeting with officials in Keylong to enhance tourism activities in Lahaul-Spiti, Tourism Director and Labour and Employment Commissioner Manasi Sahay Thakur urged the district administration to expedite all formalities related to the construction of the proposed helipad in the district. Thakur urged Lahaul-Spiti Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar to expedite the process of starting air services for tourists in view of the existing status of the Stingri helipad and the available infrastructure. Thakur highlighted that the development of the proposed helipad will not only improve health services and transportation but will also promote tourism, winter sports and adventure activities, giving the district a new identity on the global tourism map.

He also urged the Tourism and Forest Department to make special efforts to develop Tandi-Sangam Ghat as a tourist destination. Besides, Thakur assured that the workers and labourers of the district will soon get the benefits of welfare schemes run by the Labour Welfare Board. He called upon the department officials to organise camps in Lahaul-Spiti to make people aware about these schemes. Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar informed about the development plan for undiscovered tourist destinations and the current status of existing tourist spots. He also revealed a plan for wellness tourism using ancient medical practices and trans-Himalayan herbal medicines, which has been sent to the state government for approval. Besides, the DC informed that an amount of Rs 30 crore has been sanctioned under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram to strengthen the tourism sector in the tribal district Lahaul-Spiti.
