Himachal: The organization said that the upper castes will not compromise on their legitimate rights.

Himachal Pradesh: Rakesh Thakur, former Zila Parishad Chairman and convener of the General Category Joint Organization, addressed a gathering at Gandhi Chowk here, stating that upper caste people will not compromise on their legitimate rights and will continue to fight against any attacks on their communities by any government. He stated that the new UGC guidelines adopted by the central government will deprive upper caste children of selection in prestigious government institutions, public sector jobs, and even promotions within their service. He said it is unfortunate that since 1947, various governments have underestimated the importance of upper castes, and now the new UGC guidelines introduced by the central government are an attack on these communities.
Rakesh stated that the country is facing a brain drain due to the flawed reservation provisions adopted by the Constitutional Committee. He stated that the organization is not against reservation for economically weaker sections of society, but caste-based reservation has led to brain drain from the country. Joginar Thakur of the Rajput Sabha said that then-Prime Minister VP Singh implemented the Mandal Commission’s recommendations, which led to nationwide protests and ended his political career. He urged those present to join forces to protect the future of future generations and speak out against laws like the new UGC guidelines. Later, the leaders submitted a memorandum of demands to the Prime Minister, the President, and the Himachal Chief Minister through Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Garg.
