Himachal: Taxi driver found dead in McLeodganj

Himachal Pradesh: Police on Friday confirmed that 38-year-old taxi driver Gaurav Rana alias Ganju, originally from Nepal, was found dead under suspicious circumstances at his rented house in Mitha Nala area on Bhagsu Nag Road in Kangra’s Mcleodganj. According to preliminary information, Gaurav was living alone in Mcleodganj for the last few months while his family stayed in the nearby Sudher village. His landlord Subhash Chand found him lying unconscious in the veranda of the house and immediately informed the local police. Station House Officer Deepak Kumar reached the spot with his team and rushed Rana to the Regional Hospital in Dharamshala, where doctors declared him dead.
The deceased’s wife and mother were informed and later they identified the body at the hospital. Police sources said that the family did not suspect any foul play during the preliminary investigation. However, the report said that Rana was reportedly addicted to alcohol, which could be a possible reason for his death. The body was sent to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda for post-mortem. After the completion of the procedure, the body was handed over to the family for last rites. The final post-mortem report is awaited.
