Himachal: Roads of Tirthan valley damaged by floods are not up for repair
Himachal Pradesh: The damage caused by last year’s flood in Kullu’s Tirthan Valley has not been recovered. The valley’s connecting roads, bridges, footpaths and many buildings were damaged in the disaster. The condition of the bridges built for pedestrians in the valley and the retaining walls on this road has deteriorated. Although people have built temporary bridges for movement, these are unsafe and will not last long. The concerned authorities should investigate this matter as soon as possible.
Villagers troubled by water shortage
There is an outcry among the people for water in Raila Panchayat of Sainj Valley of Kullu, for the last 10 days the villagers are yearning for a drop of water. The Raila Lift Drinking Water Scheme, built at a cost of Rs 7 crore, has been completed after 13 years. But, it has not been able to run properly even for a month. All the tanks are broken and there is leakage in them, raising questions on the quality of work. Officials of the Jal Shakti Department have blamed the Electricity Department for this. However, it was later said that there was a fault in the pump house of the scheme.
