Himachal Pradesh museum will be renovated: DC

Himachal Pradesh: Shimla Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap chaired a meeting to review disaster mitigation proposals under Disaster Management System here today. He said that Shimla district administration has proposed renovation of State Museum situated at Chaura Maidan in view of the threat of earthquake. During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that Dr. Hemant Vinayak, Associate Professor, National Institute of Technology Hamirpur has been appointed as expert for this project. He directed the concerned officers to prepare a detailed report on the project in consultation with the expert, so that the renovation work of the building can start as soon as possible.

He said that under disaster mitigation, plant nurseries are being developed for soil conservation. He said, “These plants will be used for soil conservation in places prone to landslides during the rainy season.” The Deputy Commissioner also said that there is no alternative route available in case of road closure due to disaster in the city. He directed the Public Works Department officials to conduct an in-depth study to build an alternative route, so that proposals can be prepared soon. Additional Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Verma, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana, Executive Engineer Public Works Praveen Verma, Executive Engineer Ravi Bhushan and other officers were also present in the meeting.
