Himachal: Nahan court premises evacuated after bomb threat mail

Himachal Pradesh: The Nahan court complex in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district was rocked this morning after a bomb threat was received through an email. Following this alarming message, the local administration and police swung into action and evacuated the entire complex as a precautionary measure. According to police sources, the threatening email was received directly at the court this morning, the police was immediately informed and prompt action was taken to evacuate all the staff, lawyers and general public from the court complex. Even the policemen deployed on duty under the high-alert protocol were withdrawn from the spot. A four-member bomb squad was deployed at the spot and an intensive search operation was launched in search of any suspicious object. No explosive device has been found so far, however, the search operation is continuing with utmost caution.
Also, a cyber crime team has also been activated to investigate the source of the threatening email and trace its source through technical analysis. This is the first case of such a threat being received at the Nahan court complex, which houses several courts and is visited by a large number of people on a daily basis. The incident has raised serious concerns about public safety and has become a serious challenge for the district administration. The authorities have tightened security in and around the complex and are keeping a close watch on the situation. Sirmaur Superintendent of Police Nischint Singh Negi said, “All necessary steps have been taken to ensure public safety. People are requested not to spread rumours or believe them.” Meanwhile, in a similar incident today, a bomb threat was given to the district and sessions court complex in Kullu, leading to widespread panic. However, senior police officials are currently present at the spot and are keeping a close watch on the situation and assuring that the situation is under control.
