Himachal: Employee service will be regularized after two years under apprenticeship policy

Himachal Pradesh: The state government has implemented a new apprenticeship policy to end the ad-hoc system to ensure regularization of the services of employees after two years. A government spokesperson today clarified that the new apprenticeship policy aims to make the functioning of departments more smooth, efficient and effective. He said that earlier, the period of regularization of the services of contract employees depended on ad-hoc decisions and discretion of the ruling government and the period ranged from two to eight years.
He said that there is no provision in the new policy to terminate the services of any apprentice after two years. To address these problems, the government released the new apprenticeship policy on July 19. In the earlier system, employees were kept on contract for two years, while under the new system, the selected candidates will serve as apprentices for two years. He said that after two years of training, departmental examination will be conducted, for which the Personnel Department will soon issue detailed guidelines. The services of all the candidates selected through Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and State Selection Commission will be regularized after completion of the two-year training period.
