Himachal: BJP protest on 27 March

Himachal Pradesh: BJP chief spokesperson and Sundernagar MLA Rakesh Jamwal has accused the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh of failing to maintain law and order, leading to rising crime and public insecurity. Jamwal announced that the BJP will hold a massive protest in Shimla on March 27 to highlight the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. He cited several disturbing incidents that took place under the Congress rule, the latest being the firing on a dhaba owner near Pulgharat in Mandi district last night. According to Jamwal, the injured victim claimed that when he sought help from the police, he was advised to go to a hospital instead of getting immediate assistance. “Such negligence is unacceptable,” he said, questioning the efficiency of the state’s law enforcement. Jamwal also raised other serious crimes, including an attack on a former Congress MLA in Bilaspur, a firing incident inside a court and the mysterious death of a chief engineer of HPPCL.
The engineer’s family has accused senior officials of misbehavior and mental harassment and demanded a CBI probe. However, Jamwal expressed doubts over the impartiality of the investigation and pointed out that an IAS officer has been appointed to the committee handling the case, which according to him compromises its credibility. The BJP leader accused the Congress government of allowing mafia raj to flourish in the state, especially the drug and mining mafia. He claimed that illegal mining, especially in Mandi, is rampant, while development projects have come to a standstill under the current administration. He also criticised Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu for making false promises during elections and misleading the public. Amid growing demand for a CBI probe, Jamwal accused Congress ministers of deliberately weakening top investigating agencies as they fear the probe will expose major government failures. He alleged that the government is deliberately avoiding handing over sensitive cases to the CBI to save those involved. Amid the BJP preparing for its protest on March 27, Jamwal said the party will not sit silent as lawlessness grows in the state. He urged citizens to support the demand for justice and accountability from the ruling government.
