Himachal Pradesh: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap has directed Nambardars to report drug-related activities in their area to the police every 15 days. He stressed that immediate action will be taken on their reports as part of the district government’s initiative to curb the drug menace. During the meeting, DC Kashyap reiterated the administration’s commitment to make Shimla drug-free and ensure timely resolution of revenue-related matters. He directed that disaster-related incidents be reported immediately to senior revenue officials, so that coordination in rescue operations can be enhanced.
Highlighting the role of Nambardars in land ownership and revenue matters, he said that their involvement is important in the speedy disposal of pending cases. The state government gives priority to efficiently resolving revenue disputes, in which Nambardars assist in border inspection, survey and record keeping. At present, 405 Nambardars are actively serving in the district, and efforts are being made to strengthen their role using innovative methods. They are expected to attend regular meetings, assist government officials in public duties and provide local information. Additionally, they have to report animal disease outbreaks to the patwari and inform the authorities about deaths of property right holders.
