Himachal: Arki police arrested drug smuggler with more than 112 grams of ganja

Himachal Pradesh: Achieving a major breakthrough in the fight against drugs, Arki police arrested a drug peddler and seized a huge quantity of ganja during an operation late night. Solan Superintendent of Police Gaurav Singh said that on the intervening night of July 23 and 24, Arki police received information about a private vehicle – Maruti S-Presso – suspected to be carrying a huge quantity of contraband on the Kunihar-Piplughat road. Based on the intelligence input, the police intercepted the vehicle and conducted a thorough search. They arrested Amar Dev (57), a resident of Nauni, near Darlaghat and recovered over 112 grams of ganja from his possession. A case has been registered under Section 20 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Arki police station. The vehicle used in transporting the contraband has also been seized and he has been taken into custody. The accused was produced in court today for remand. Police officials are currently checking his criminal history, as he was found in possession of a large quantity of contraband. SP Singh reiterated the district police’s commitment to curb the drug menace and urged the public to report suspicious activities.
Two arrested with 7.17 grams of chitta
Chamba: Cracking down on drug trafficking, the Chamba police arrested two youths near Thulel bridge in Bhattiyat subdivision late Wednesday night and recovered 7.17 grams of chitta (heroin) from their possession. The accused were arrested during routine night patrolling when the police team noticed them and found their activities suspicious. On frisking, the police recovered heroin from the suspects. The arrested persons have been identified as Rahul Masih (19), a resident of Kalanaur village in Gurdaspur district of Punjab and Dilbagh Singh (30), a resident of Panch Garaiya village in Batala. Both have been booked under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Confirming the arrest, Superintendent of Police Abhishek Yadav reiterated the district police’s commitment to curb drug-related crimes and asserted that there will be zero tolerance towards drug trafficking. “This action is a clear symbol of our dedication to protect the youth from the drug menace. Those involved in drug dealing will not be spared under any circumstances,” he said. He appealed to the public to come forward with any information related to drug abuse or trafficking in their area. “If you notice any suspicious activity or have information about drug trafficking, immediately report it to the nearest police station or helpline. Your identity will be kept strictly confidential,” Yadav said.
