Himachal: 29 police personnel to undergo cyber training programme

Himachal Pradesh: 29 personnel of Himachal Pradesh Police have passed the Cyber ​​Commando Test. Through this exam, policemen are selected for the Cyber ​​Commando Training Program. A total of 3,093 policemen from across the state appeared in this national level examination conducted by the Ministry of Home Affairs on February 11. Out of these, only 1,042 policemen from across the country were able to clear the exam, including 15 from Delhi, 13 from Haryana, eight from Punjab and two from Chandigarh. The Cyber ​​Commando Training Program is an initiative of the central government to combat cyber crime and strengthen national security. Under this program, cyber commandos will be trained to deal with cyber threats. These commandos will play an important role in securing the country’s cyber ecosystem and responding to potential cyber threats.

State CID Deputy Inspector General of Cyber ​​Crime Mohit Chawla said that last year 12 officers of Himachal Pradesh Police were selected for the Cyber ​​Commando Program. This year the selected officers will be given six months of special training in cyber security and technology at several IITs. He said that this training will enhance their expertise and improve capacity building efforts, enabling the officers to contribute more effectively in the field of cyber security. “We are very proud of the achievements of our officers and wish them all the best for their future endeavours,” he said. The DIG advised people to remain vigilant and not to click on unknown and suspicious links or websites as well as not to share any personal and financial information with anyone. People have also been advised to immediately report any incident of cyber crime on toll-free helpline number 1930. Currently, around 400 cyber crime complaints have been registered across the state, with most of the cases being digital arrests.
