Himachal: 165th anniversary speech day at Bishop Cotton School
Himachal Pradesh: Bishop Cotton School (BCS) celebrated 165th Anniversary Speech Day with a spectacular march past with school band and NCC parade. Director General of Police Atul Verma was the chief guest on the occasion. In his speech, Dr Verma said that character building takes place in school, which plays a vital role in the success of any individual in later life. He lauded the school for its outstanding achievements in both academic and co-curricular areas. BCS Director Simon Veale said, “My philosophy is that the carrot usually works much better than the stick. A smiling child achieves much more than a scared child.
External discipline has its advantages, but ultimately our boys must develop inner discipline to face the challenges that life throws at them.” “If students leave school without inner discipline, we are not doing our job,” he said. Later the winners were awarded prizes at the historic Irwin Hall. The main house cups were won by Lefroy and Ibbetson. The UCO Bank Junior School (Prep School) Study Cup was won by Lefroy House, the Chelmsford Senior School Study Cup was won by Ibbetson House, the Bayliss Shield was won by Ibbetson House, the Grindlays Games and Sports Cup was won by Lefroy House and the Cock House Shield was won by Lefroy House. The occasion remembered alumni DC Anand and Sunita John, Head of Auckland House for 26 years, who passed away recently.
