High Court sent notice to former Chief Minister’s wife

Jabalpur. The High Court stayed the hearing of the appeal pending in the Additional Sessions Court (MP-MLA Court) of Bhopal in the defamation case related to Congress leader Ajay Singh Rahul. A single bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi has issued a notice to Sadhna Singh, wife of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seeking her reply. Ajay Singh Rahul filed a petition in the High Court saying that the MP-MLA court has no right to hear the pending appeal. Advocate Umesh Trivedi presented the case on behalf of the petitioner. He argued that in the year 2013, Ajay Singh Rahul had made derogatory remarks against Sadhna Singh in Sagar and Khargone.

On this, Sadhna Singh had filed a defamation case against Ajay Singh Rahul in Bhopal court. Some testimony took place in the CJM court, after which the case was sent to the Additional Sessions Court (MP-MLA) court. Here also some statements were recorded, but the case was sent to the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class. JMFC court heard the final arguments and sentenced Ajay Singh Rahul to imprisonment till the rising of the court and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. After this, Ajay Singh submitted an appeal against this decision before the Additional Sessions Court (MP-MLA). A petition was filed in the High Court arguing that since the Additional Sessions Court (MP-MLA) had previously taken testimony in this case, it did not have the right to hear the appeal.
