Health Minister Jaiswal leaves for Bijapur

Raipur: Malaria has become fatal in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district. Two girl students have died within three days. While, more than 200 affected students are admitted in different health institutions. Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal will review the status of health facilities in Bijapur today and the preparations to deal with seasonal and waterborne diseases.

Vaidika Jawwa (9), a class III student studying in Sangampalli porta cabin, was ill for a few days. She was undergoing treatment in the porta cabin. She died on Saturday. Earlier on Thursday, nine-year-old Dikshita, a class II student in Kanya Awasiya Ashram Tarlaguda, died of malaria.

In the last two years, a dozen school children have died of malaria in Bijapur. There are 34 porta cabins and 184 ashram hostels in the Naxal-affected district. CMHO Dr. BR Pujari says that 70 teams have been formed to examine children in ashram hostels and porta cabins.
