Haryana: The portal for admissions under the Chirag scheme has been reopened.

Haryana: The Haryana government has reopened the online portal for admissions to private schools under the Chief Minister’s Equal Education Relief, Assistance and Grant (CHEERAG) scheme. This is for students who were unable to secure admission earlier due to delays in Class X results. The portal will remain open until January 30.

CHEERAG is a government scheme aimed at providing free private school education to economically weaker students. Under this scheme, children from families with an annual income of ₹1.8 lakh or less are eligible for admission to private schools.

“The Directorate of Elementary Education had originally scheduled the admissions under the CHEERAG scheme for the academic session 2025-26 from April 1 to April 30, 2025. However, due to delays in Class X results,

the portal for uploading student details, mark sheets, and other necessary documents for students who have already taken admission to Class XI from Class X under the CHEERAG scheme by July 15, 2025, has now been reopened until January 30,” he said.

A recent circular sent to all District Education Officers (DEOs) across the state also stated that 276 private schools have been found eligible for some classes and ineligible for others because they have not submitted complete accreditation-related documents. In many cases, schools are accredited up to the senior secondary level, but have only uploaded accreditation certificates up to the secondary level. Such schools will have to upload their complete and correct accreditation documents,” the circular stated.

The DEOs have been instructed to ensure that all such private schools in their respective districts submit the pending student data and accreditation-related documents within the stipulated time. Sources said that strict compliance has been directed in this regard.
