Hamirpur: 2,975 labourers found ineligible for registration in physical verification

Himachal Pradesh: Nardev Kanwar, Chairman of the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board, Hamirpur, on Monday announced that 2,975 workers have been found ineligible for registration with the Labor Welfare Board. He further stated that physical verification and e-KYC processes are underway for approximately 4.76 lakh registered workers to weed out ineligible workers and ensure that eligible workers receive the benefits of the Board’s welfare schemes. Kanwar stated that the credentials of over 19,480 workers in the state have been physically verified so far, and 2,975 of them have been found ineligible. He warned that the final numbers could be even more shocking after verification of all registered workers. He outlined major decisions taken at the Board of Directors meeting chaired by Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu, prioritizing the welfare of workers, single women, and disabled children. He said the Chief Minister has directed that workers’ e-KYC be done through the Him Parivar portal to link them to the pension scheme, and that all payments be processed through the e-Samosa portal. “The workers will also be enrolled under the Himcare scheme, and the Board will bear the entire cost of their cards. Previously, the Board provided up to ₹1.20 lakh per year for children’s higher and vocational education, but now, it will cover the entire fees for those studying in government institutions. Furthermore, all disabled children will be included under the Mukhyamantri Sukh Ashray Yojana,” he added. Kanwar said that on the completion of three years of the Congress government’s tenure, the Chief Minister transferred approximately ₹15 crore directly to the bank accounts of 4,000 beneficiary workers, including the first installment of ₹3 lakh each for widows and other single women to build houses.
