Halt to airline entry: Adani Group refutes media reports

Ahmedabad: Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) on Friday refuted media reports and market speculation suggesting that the Adani Group’s flagship company was planning to launch an airline.

Earlier, there had been reports indicating that the Adani Group was proposing to enter the airline business.

A spokesperson for Adani Enterprises Limited stated, “We wish to categorically deny recent media reports and market speculation claiming that Adani Enterprises is planning to launch an airline.”

The spokesperson added, “These reports are completely baseless and factually incorrect. Adani Enterprises is not considering any proposal to enter the airline business.”

Adani Airports has recently unveiled an ambitious program to develop integrated airport cities across five states within its airport network, with an investment exceeding ₹20,000 crore earmarked for the first phase.

This development initiative encompasses over 655 acres of land across six airports in five states, with approximately 440 acres located in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai alone.

Adani Airport City Limited (AACL)—a wholly-owned subsidiary of India’s largest private airport operator, Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL)—stated that approximately 22 million square feet of space would be developed across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati.

It will develop integrated airport cities within its network, bringing together hospitality, retail, entertainment, convention, and commercial infrastructure into interconnected, walkable urban precincts.

According to the company, approximately 70 percent of the planned investment will be concentrated in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, reflecting the Mumbai Metropolitan Region’s (MMR) status as a key commercial, financial, and aviation gateway for India. These developments are designed as integrated, walkable urban areas where travelers, businesses, and local communities can access hotel, office, retail, dining, entertainment, and convention facilities. All these amenities will be seamlessly connected to the airport, metro, and city transport infrastructure.
