Gyanvapi case: CEO of temple trust demands repair of basement roof

Varanasi: Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple Trust Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vishwa Bhushan Mishra has filed an application in the District Judge’s court for repairing the roof of the southern basement of Gyanvapi Mosque. The application given on Monday said that a stone fell from the roof due to vibration caused by the crowd offering Namaz. Rajesh Mishra, special government counsel for Gyanvapi cases, said, the CEO of the temple trust has also sought to stop the crowd of worshipers coming for namaz on the roof of the southern basement.
He said that the court has fixed March 19 for hearing on the petition. In his application, Mishra mentioned that as per the January 31 order of the district judge’s court, the temple trust board has arranged for a priest to conduct regular worship of the deities inside the southern basement of the Gyanvapi mosque. He said, “The priest told that the walls and roof of the basement are in a dilapidated condition and water is also leaking from the roof. A crack is visible in a beam of the roof. “There has been a huge increase in the number of people coming here to offer namaz in the last few weeks.” “On February 15, many worshipers gathered on the roof of the southern basement,” he said. Due to excessive weight and vibration, a piece of stone broke and fell on the floor. To avoid any untoward incident, roof repair is necessary.
