Gurugram: 7 workers killed after wall collapses at Signature Global site

At least seven workers were killed and several others injured when an under-construction wall collapsed at a construction site belonging to Signature Global Society in Sidhrawali village here late Monday evening.

According to officials, the accident occurred when a group of about 12-15 workers were working near a sewage treatment plant (STP) at the construction site. The wall suddenly collapsed, sending debris and mud tumbling down, trapping the workers underneath.

Fellow workers and passersby at the site immediately began rescue operations, trying to pull the trapped workers out with their bare hands. Shortly after, teams from the police, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and fire brigade arrived at the scene and took over the rescue operation.

“So far, the bodies of seven workers have been recovered from the debris, while five other injured have been admitted to nearby hospitals for treatment,” an official said.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the wall collapse and whether safety protocols were followed at the construction site. The builder has not yet issued a statement.
