Guarantee conference in Mandya, Congress’ show of strength

Congress’s show of strength in Mandya on Sunday proved to be very dangerous. Thousands of people participated in the conference held at the grounds near Mandya University. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah praised Mandya by calling it a historical district.

He thanked the people for supporting the party to victory in six out of seven taluks of the district during the assembly elections and said that he was confident that they would vote for the Congress candidate in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Siddaramaiah said the party has ‘worked as promised’ after coming to power in 2023. “After assuming charge, we held a meeting in May 2023 and decided to implement the five guarantees,” he said.
According to this, Shakti Yojana was implemented in June. Crores of women have benefited from this scheme across the state including Mandya district. Anna Bhagya Yojana, Griha Jyoti and Yuva Nidhi schemes were also implemented. He said, “It is your responsibility to support Congress in the Lok Sabha elections as you did in the Assembly elections.”
He also targeted the BJP-JD-S alliance, calling it an ‘unholy alliance’. JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy had said that he would not forge an alliance with communal party BJP.
HD Deve Gowda once said that he would like to become a Muslim in his next life. Now he has made a compromise with the communal party. He said that MP Sumalatha, who had contested the last election as an independent, won because of Congress votes. Now a tug of war is going on between Sumalatha and JD for the ticket to contest elections from Mandya. No matter who the candidate is, the unholy alliance should not win. He appealed, people should vote for Congress.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar talked about the impact of the guarantee schemes and how it has strengthened the hands of the Congress. BJP has lost its mind and has accused Congress of releasing water from KRS dam to Tamil Nadu.
Police detained a group of farmers protesting against the government, accusing it of releasing water to Tamil Nadu.
Malavalli MLA PM Narendra Swamy told PTI that the water was being released to tackle the drinking water problem in Bengaluru and not for Tamil Nadu as was anticipated. Minister N Chaluvarayaswamy, MLA, DC Kumar and dignitaries were present.
