Grain fraud worth 50 lakhs, SDM took big action

A big case of misappropriation of 800 quintals of grains worth Rs 50 lakh has come to light in the government ration shop in the district. During the investigation, it was found that the rice of the Public Distribution System (PDS) was being sold in the market. The managers and sellers in Konchra, Sonpuri, Aammuda and Karra societies of Kota development block have not only cheated the government of lakhs, but have also made inroads into the ration that should be given to the common poor people.

After continuous complaints, when physical verification of these societies was done, the irregularities came to light. After investigation, 317.24 quintals of rice, 8.24 quintals of sugar and 2.72 quintals of salt were found missing in Konchra society. Similarly, 200.85 quintals of rice, 3.77 quintals of sugar and 2.72 quintals of salt were missing in Sonpuri. Sugar and 5.06 quintals of gram, 177.72 quintals of rice, 5.04 quintals of sugar and 7.50 quintals of gram in Amamuda Society and 91.90 quintals of rice and 0.65 quintals of sugar in Anand Mahila Samuh of Karra were found to be missing. After which notices were issued to the shop owners, but action has been taken now as no response was received. An FIR will also be lodged in the case.
