Government to take back leased land unused by industries: Odisha Revenue Minister

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has decided to take back the leased land unused by industries for years, informed Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari on Wednesday.

While talking to the media persons about the decision of the State government, Pujari said that the leased land of the industries who are yet to establish their projects even years after getting the land will be taken back.

Besides, the industries which have got more leased land and have used only partially will also have to return the land to the State government.

The district collectors have been directed to prepare a list of such industries in their respective districts within two months following which the process to take back the leased land from the business industries will be initiated, said the Revenue and Disaster Management Minister.

It is suspected that show-cause notices will be issued to those industries asking as to why the allotment will not be cancelled, said sources.

It is to be noted here that the government had earlier taken away lands allotted to some industries for failing to make any visible effort to set up their projects for years together. This includes, 2,968 acres of land approved to Korean steel major POSCO at Paradip.
