Government launches 25 Centres of Excellence and 96 Sports Hubs to boost athlete participation in 2036 Olympics

Maharashtra: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the state government plans to establish 25 Centers of Excellence and 96 Sports Development Hubs to ensure greater participation of Maharashtra’s athletes in the 2036 Olympic Games.
Fadnavis stated that eight high-performance centers for 12 sports, including athletics, badminton, and wrestling, are already operational, while four more are proposed to be established. As India strives to host the 2036 Olympic Games, the state government aims to ensure that as many athletes from the state as possible participate in the prestigious event. The government also plans to establish 25 divisional-level Centers of Excellence and 96 Sports Quality Development Centers. Fadnavis stated that necessary funds have been allocated for the development of sports complexes at the state, division, district, and taluka levels.
