Government car hits soldier, driver arrested after death

Lucknow: A speeding government car hit a Provincial Guard (PRD) soldier in Hazratganj area of Lucknow. A soldier died and a woman was injured in the accident. The incident happened on Saturday night. The driver was allegedly drunk. People caught the driver and handed him over to the police. The high speed Ambassador car was coming from Kaiserbagh. When the car reached Halwasiya police post, the driver lost control of the vehicle. During this, the car first hit bike rider Ishaan and his mother Vandana, a resident of Daliganj, and then hit PRD jawan Dinesh Kumar who was going on foot. Hazratganj police station SHO Vikram Singh said, “Vandana and Dinesh Kumar suffered serious injuries, while Ishaan survived. Both were taken to SPM Civil Hospital. Dinesh was referred to KGMU Trauma Center, where he died during treatment. Police said that passersby caught the car driver Bihari Lal and handed him over to Hazratganj police. The car had a Secretariat sticker and belonged to the Water Resources Department of the Uttar Pradesh government.
