Giani Harpreet Singh disobeyed the order of 2 December: Sukhbir Badal

Punjab: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said Giani Harpreet Singh has defied the Hukamnama (religious edict) of December 2, 2024, which specifically ordered against the formation of a separate faction to weaken the Akali Dal. Sukhbir alleged that “central agencies are trying to weaken the SAD by creating a “parallel” Akali Dal led by Giani Harpreet Singh”. “Everyone saw how they gave tacit approval to the murder attempt against me even though I had bowed my head before the Akal Takht and taken full responsibility for any wrongdoing done by anyone during the SAD tenure from 2007 to 2017,” he said. Sukhbir further said, “My complete surrender before the Akal Takht had actually foiled their conspiracy.

So, these elements connived with the police to eliminate me and that too when I was performing seva at Harmandar Sahib. But Akal Purakh intervened to foil this conspiracy.” He stressed that he did not want to talk about the activities of Giani Harpreet Singh and his local supporters like Prem Singh Chandumajra and Surjit Singh Rakhra but to tell the truth to Punjabis. He said, “Giani Harpreet Singh had called me and the Akali leadership as part of a plan whose sole aim was to expel me from the Panth. A fabricated complaint was also obtained to accomplish this mission.” He said that when the matter came to the notice of the SAD, its leadership decided that when the highest office would call the party president, he should not try to give any argument. Sukhbir said, “Accordingly, it was decided to take responsibility for any mistake committed by the SAD government, party or office bearer.”
