Ganja smuggler arrested with pistol and cartridges at bus stand

Raigarh. Last Saturday, January 13, on the night of January 13, the Kotwali police caught two vicious criminals from their possession at Keodabari bus stand and recovered a country-made pistol, two live cartridges and 4 kg 625 grams of ganja. Both the accused were involved in ganja smuggling under the guise of labor work.

On the directions of Senior Superintendent of Police Sadanand Kumar, on the guidelines of taking effective action against illegal liquor, gambling-betting, ganja and junk, police station in-charge Kotwali Inspector Shanip Ratre has activated informers and deployed them to give information, based on the information received from them, Kotwali police Continuous action is being taken against illegal liquor, gambling and betting. In the same sequence, on 13.01.2024, Inspector Shanip Ratre received information from the informer that the activities of Omprakash Jangde and his partner Govind Bhatt, resident of Turipara Darradipa, are suspicious, the informer expressed suspicion of ganja smuggling on both of them. Police station in-charge Kotwali had deployed his staff to keep an eye on both the suspects, at around 06:00 in the evening, information was received that both the suspects were seen with suspicious items in two plastic bags at Kevadbari bus stand. Immediately the police station in-charge informed the senior officers and prepared the team. The station in-charge briefed the staff included in the team regarding the raid proceedings. At around 06.00 in the evening, the Kotwali police team cordoned off all the entrances of the passenger waiting room of Keowadabari bus stand and conducted a sudden raid inside, where two suspicious youths named by the informer, Omprakash Jange alias Annu and Govind Bhatt, were caught. The police team informed the suspects about the proceedings under the NDPS Act and searched the entire staff and then in front of witnesses both the suspects and the plastic sack kept with them were checked. A plastic sack kept near suspect Om Prakash Jangde contained three foil packets of drugs, a pistol and a plastic sack kept near suspect Govind Bhatt contained two foil packets of drugs and two live cartridges, the drug was identified as ganja. . Both the accused were immediately brought to the police station under security cover. On weighing the narcotic drug Ganja seized from the accused, a total of 4 kg 625 grams of Ganja worth Rs 70,000 and a steel body pistol and 02 live cartridges were recovered. Action has been taken against the accused in the police station under sections 20 (B) NDPS Act and sections 25, 27 Arms Act.

During detailed interrogation of the accused, information was found that (1) Accused Om Prakash Jangde alias Annu, father Paras Ram Jangde, age 33 years, original residence, Parsadipa police station, Jajepur district, Sakti, present address, Turipara Darradipa police station, Kotwali district, Raigarh and accused (2) Govind Bhatt, father Jhaduram Bhatt, age 27 year old resident of Indira Nagar Dewar, Para Kotwali Raigarh, both of them were engaged in ganja smuggling under the guise of labor work. Aadhaar card has been made at the address of Omprakash Jangade Raigarh. On taking information regarding the accused from the border districts, the accused Omprakash Jangde has been an accused in the Chaple robbery case under Kharsia police station area in the year 2004-05 and has been challaned by the Kharsia police. The accused remained involved in criminal activities since then. The accused told that he had contacted Chinya of Orissa dacoity gang and got the pistol and he involved Govind Bhatt in ganja smuggling. Last night, both of them were waiting for the bus at the bus stand with ganja, there was a plan to go ahead of the bus and deliver the ganja to some other party. Under the guidance of Senior SP Shri Sadanand Kumar and guidance of Additional SP Sanjay Mahadeva, Kotwali police is busy in exposing the entire link of the accused.
