Gang physically attacks assistant professor in South Salmara College
South Salmara: In a shocking incident, a gang of 10 to 15 young boys allegedly attacked an assistant professor at South Salmara College on Tuesday morning. The video of the attack that surfaced on social media platforms has gone viral.
The attackers entered the campus and started beating Professor Dr. Mojibur Rahman with their hands. The situation worsened when the gang forcefully brought the professor from the college verandah to the grounds and brutally attacked him.
An FIR has been lodged by the victim against eight people in South Salmara police station regarding this matter.
The eight suspects have been identified as Surman Ali, Noor Haq, Bakkar Ali, Abdul Awal, Abu Shama, Hasanur Rahman, Noor Islam and Sahirul Islam.
The reason behind this incident is not yet known and this has spread anger in the area.
Meanwhile, early last year, a woman along with her husband had approached the Panbazar police station accusing Cotton University hostelers of assault and the police had started investigating the matter.
The incident came to light after the couple reported that they were beaten up by students of MNDP Boys Hostel. He also accused the boys of being drunk when they attacked the woman and her husband.
He also said that the boys were initially attacking a man and when the woman intervened to stop them, they along with her husband started beating her.
Reportedly, soon after receiving information about the incident, a police team reached there and took the woman for medical examination. Case number 3012/23 was registered at Panbazar police station under sections 341/323/325/354 of IPC.
However, the hostel authorities denied the involvement of any of its students in the incident and mentioned that the miscreants must be from outside as hostelers follow the rules of the institute.
