From malnutrition to nutrition, new Chhattisgarh shines in the smile of Yaksh

Durg. A new revolution against malnutrition is beginning in Chhattisgarh. The shackles of hunger and malnutrition are breaking, and the gleam of hope is clearly visible in the eyes of children. The dream of a well-nourished Chhattisgarh is now becoming a reality under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai. He says, every child should be healthy, this is true good governance. Under the guidance of Women and Child Development Minister Smt. Laxmi Rajwade, this resolution is now coming to the ground.

An ambitious target has been set to make 77 gram panchayats of Durg district malnutrition-free. In this direction, the story of Gram Panchayat Karela is inspiring. A few months ago, Yaksh, a child registered in Anganwadi Center 1 of Karela, was struggling with moderate malnutrition. He weighed only 9.8 kg, and he was dependent on unhealthy packaged food instead of home-cooked food.

Yaksh underwent a health check-up under the Chief Minister Bal Sandarbh Yojana, which started a change in his life. Anganwadi worker Smt. Durgeshwari Verma and supervisor Smt. Mamta Sahu explained the importance of nutrition to Yaksh’s parents and taught them the method of preparing nutritious food using home methods. Village Sarpanch Dr. Rajesh Banchhor provided nutritious material like pulses, jaggery, and peanuts under the Poshan Khazana Yojana. This brought about an unprecedented change in Yaksh’s health. After being sent to the Anganwadi center regularly, Yaksh developed an interest in eating. The atmosphere of group meals, sprouted grains in the morning, ready-to-eat nutritious food and food prepared with mother’s love gave a new direction to his health. Today Yaksh’s weight has increased to 11.5 kg and height to 89 cm. He is now fully nourished. His bright eyes and smile on his face are testimony not only to his health, but also to the bright future of the new Chhattisgarh. Yaksh’s family expressed their gratitude to the government emotionally. They said, this timely help gave a new life to our child. If this help was not received, perhaps our Yaksh would have been weak and sick even today. Yaksh’s story is not just about one child, but about all the children of Chhattisgarh for whom the government’s schemes are bringing new light to their lives. This campaign of malnutrition-free Chhattisgarh is not only improving the health of children, but is also laying the foundation for a healthy and prosperous future.
