Free bus and metro travel key planks in NCP’s joint Pune election manifesto

Maharashtra: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar) MP Supriya Sule jointly released a common manifesto for the Pune Municipal Corporation elections, with free public transport as a key plank. This marked their first common political platform since the NCP split in 2023.
The two held a press conference at Patrakar Bhavan in Pune on Saturday.
After the Nationalist Congress Party split in 2023, Ajit Pawar and Supriya Sule on Saturday came together for the first time to release a joint manifesto for the Pune civic elections, with free bus and metro travel for the public as a key promise. Addressing a joint press conference, leaders from both the Ajit Pawar-led NCP and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) said the manifesto prioritizes affordable and easily accessible public transport to ease the daily burden on the people of Pune. The proposal of free travel on PMPML buses and metro services is aimed at reducing traffic congestion, reducing pollution levels and encouraging greater use of public transport.
