Foxtail millet seeds distributed to farmers in Namsai under IIMR project

RONO HILLS, 9 Jun: Foxtail millet seeds were distributed to farmers of Namsai district on Tuesday by FoAS, Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) here, under the Millet Promotion Project for NER, funded by the Indian Institute of Millet Research (IIMR), Hyderabad, for the financial year 2026-27.

“Namsai, Lower Dibang Valley and Papum Pare districts will be covered under millet seeds distribution programme during the current financial year and further millet processing training will be done in the coming days, followed by strengthening the farmers with millet processing bakery and noodle units under the project,” the university informed in a release.

RGU Agricultural Sciences Dean Dr Sandeep Janghu is the PI of the project.
