Leaked Question Paper: In a significant development in the NEET-UG paper leak case, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday, July 17, detained four medical students of Patna AIIMS on suspicion of being involved in solving the leaked question papers. The investigation gained momentum with the custody of these students, who have been identified as Chandan Kumar, Rahul Kumar, Karan Jain and Kumar Sanu. According to sources privy to the investigation, three of the detained students belong to the 2021 batch, who are currently in their third year, while the fourth student is in the second year. Their residences have been searched and the officials have seized their mobile phones and laptops for further investigation. The CBI team, which reached Patna AIIMS on Wednesday afternoon, first detained Chandan Kumar, followed by Kumar Sanu and Rahul Kumar later in the day. Karan Jain was also apprehended later. Chandan Kumar is from Siwan (Bihar), Kumar Sanu from Patna (Bihar), Rahul Kumar from Dhanbad (Jharkhand) and Karan Jain from Araria (Bihar). The focus of the investigation is to find out the extent of their involvement in solving the leaked NEET question papers and to find out who carried out this illegal activity.

Sources say that these students played a key role in solving the leaked question papers, although the exact motive apart from financial gain is being investigated. Patna AIIMS Executive Director GK Paul expressed surprise at the involvement of the institute’s students in such activities. He said that it is shocking for the institute to know that its students were involved in such activities. They are awaiting the CBI report and if the students are found guilty, appropriate action will be taken against them. He further said that all these students are very bright. Earlier, the CBI had arrested two persons named Pankaj Kumar and Raju, who were allegedly accused of stealing question papers from a truck. The agency is currently questioning them to find out how the information about the truck carrying the question papers reached the cheaters.
