Four arrested for stabbing a young man
Police have arrested four people in connection with the stabbing of a young man multiple times with a knife in the parking lot of a marriage resort here on Wednesday night.
The arrested people were identified as Sagar, Gaurav, Shiva, residents of Chheharta and Kaka Kirch of Bharat Nagar located on Batala Road here. They were produced in the court and brought on police remand for further investigation, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Investigation) Navjot Singh said.
On the statement of Simranjit Singh alias Chhavi of Chheharta, who runs a restaurant on Lawrence Road here, the police have registered a case against 13 people, five by name and the rest of their unknown associates. Apart from Sagar, Gaurav, Shiva and Kaka, the police have registered a case against Vipan Kumar of Chheharta in this case.
In his statement to the police, Simranjit Singh said that he had gone with his cousin Sahib Singh of New Amritsar to attend the wedding ceremony of an NRI friend at AR Resort on Batala Road. He said that Vikram Sharma and Sagar alias Luv Kehar were also present. He said that there was a minor argument between Vikram Sharma and Sagar because Sagar had uploaded some videos against Vikram Sharma on social media. However, the matter was resolved there and after some time Vikram Sharma left from there.
He said he was coming out of the resort after attending the function with his cousin when some policemen stopped him and asked about the fight that took place inside the function. He said that there was no fight at the function. He said that while he was talking to the police, the accused surrounded him and attacked him. When the police intervened and took them aside, the accused attacked his cousin Sahib Singh with a sharp weapon, seriously injuring him.
The complainant also alleged that the police took him to the police station where he was tortured, but the police have denied the allegations.
“Soon after registering the FIR on charges of attempt to murder, hurting religious sentiments and other sections of the Indian Penal Code, we conducted a raid and nabbed four suspects,” said Rajinder Singh, SHO of Mohkampura police station here. He said raids were underway to identify and arrest the remaining suspects.
According to the police, a case of kidnapping is registered against Sagar alias Luv in Tibri of Gurdaspur area, while two criminal cases are registered against Kashish Duggal alias Kaka Kirch under the NDPS Act and attempt to murder. Luv runs a hotel business while Kaka Kirch works in loan recovery.
