Former Odisha Sarpanch Run Over By Car, Dies

Berhampur: Former sarpanch Lalit Mohan Mohapatra was killed after allegedly being run over by car at Khamari village under Digapahandi block in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Tuesday night.

Family members have lodge complaint at K Nuagaon police station, alleging murder.

According to sources, Lalit had an altercation with a youth last evening. He soon left the place in his motorcycle. The youth, however, followed him in his car and allegedly ran the vehicle over him between village school and Panchayat office. Lalita fell of his bike and sustained grievous injuries. The youth then rushed him to Digapahandi hospital in his car and fled thereafter.

The former sarapanch, however, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
