Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar said this on Parliament security breach

New Delhi: Former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Tuesday questioned the government’s position on the security breach incident in Parliament and alleged that the investigation was being conducted at a very slow pace. Meira Kumar told ANI, “This is a serious incident. Serious action should be taken on this security breach incident. “I don’t understand why no major action is being taken on this incident.” Meira Kumar further said that due to the slow pace of investigation, it seems that the government has no intention of answering the public on this incident.

“When you want to delay or you do not want to respond to an issue, this method is adopted. Multiple agencies have been given the responsibility to investigate the incident and then we are told that the matter is stuck between them. But ultimately, it is the Speaker of the Lok Sabha who is responsible for the House; Sadly, nothing has come from their side yet on this incident,” the former president said. The security breach occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terrorist attack.

Two men – Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D – jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour, released yellow gas from canisters and raised anti-government slogans before being restrained by MPs. Outside this, in another incident, two protesters – Neelam (42) and Amol (25) – protested outside Parliament with similar gas canisters.

The Patiala House Court has extended the custodial remand of four accused persons, Manoranjan, Neelam, Sagar and Anmol in the Parliament-security breach case, to the Delhi Police Special Cell by 15 days till January 5, 2024. Earlier, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi on Saturday targeted the BJP government at the Center over the security breach in Parliament and said that it is the responsibility of Home Minister Amit Shah to explain how the security breach took place. Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi said, “It is the responsibility of the home minister to explain how the security breach took place. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi refused to take accountability for suspending 146 MPs and put the blame on Rahul Gandhi. People are asking “The Center has given him the mandate to run the government and what is the Center doing to keep him safe.”
