For the second time, the Chhattisgarh government sent the names of IPS officers to the Center for the new DGP

Raipur. The Chhattisgarh government had sent the names of three IPS officers to UPSC on 5 December for the selection of the new DGP. These include Pawan Dev, Arun Gautam and Himanshu Gupta according to seniority.

After DGP Ashok Juneja, Pawan Dev and Arun Dev Gautam are in seniority and after them Himanshu Gupta. Pawan and Arun are IPS of 92 batch and Himanshu is of 94 batch.

The panel of three senior IPS officers of the state government was returned by UPSC with some queries. The most important of these was… which IPS officers qualify to become DG Police on the retirement date of DGP Ashok Juneja, February 5, 2025. The condition for this is… 30 years of service in IPS and promotion to DG rank. With the selection of the new DGP of Chhattisgarh, speculations about the extension of service of the current DGP Ashok Juneja are very strong. However, this is not baseless either.
