For releasing 6 gamblers for 6 lakhs, the police officer may be punished
Bilaspur. Even after being transferred from the police headquarters, a new feat of the in-charge frozen in the Anti Cyber and Crime Unit (ACCU) has come to the fore. Four days ago, the team caught the influential people who used to organize gambling parties while smoking hookah in a rented house. But the team let him go without taking any action and Rs 6 lakh was recovered. The special thing is that in this whole game, the Congress leader who had come to rescue the influential people was sidelined and his words were not listened to.
In a rented house in Agyeya Nagar in the Civil Lines area, spoiled children of big businessmen were having hookah parties and gambling was also going on here. The matter is of last Tuesday. On getting the news of this, ACCU reached the spot and caught 6 youths. In this, the police described one as a hookah shopkeeper and took action against the rest as customers under the Kotpa Act. The team also recovered hookahpots and hookah items on a large scale from the spot. The state government has banned the operation of hookah bars in Chhattisgarh. Along with this, instructions have been given to take strict action against those who drink and feed hookah.
It is being told that the ACCU team had raided the house of a person named Anubhav Gupta in Agyeya Nagar on the night of June 13, in which 7 people were caught drinking and feeding hookah. A SECL government official was also included in these seven hookers. Everyone was also gambling with hookah. The team also seized playing cards along with hookah accessories from the arrested youths. But, before reaching the police station, the playing cards disappeared and the seized amount also went missing.
According to the deal, one of the seven people caught was arrested by the police and sent to jail. At the same time, a deal was fixed to give one lakh rupees each to release 6 people. The financial responsibility of 18-year-old Naveen Sahu, a resident of Bahbaliya in Kawardha district, was divided among five people. Accordingly, it was decided to give one lakh twenty thousand rupees to a person. But, as soon as the youth got out of the clutches of the police, then the illegal extortion by the police came to the fore.
