Folk artists’ gathering in Dharma: gathered at Dharmatala intersection to demand their demands

There is a tone of protest for different courtyards! They started arriving in Kolkata from different districts on Friday morning. They gathered at Dharmatala Square with their demands. ‘Sara Bangla Lokshilpi Sansad’ organized a program of folk artists in Kolkata on Friday. There are many different types of folk artists from different districts of Kolkata. Folk artists from eight districts including Birbhum, East Burdwan, Purulia, Bankura and Murshidabad will participate in the program. There are many types of folk artists in Howrah and Shillong. They also sent a memorandum of 16-point demands to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The memorandum was submitted to DC (Central) Indira Mukherjee in Kolkata. Some people perform Karam dance, tribal dance, Chow dance Pa Melan dance. Someone again strangled the Melan Baul song. There was also protest on drums. The poet is fighting.

An organization called ‘Sara Bangla Lokshilpi Sansad’ was formed for the folk artists of the state three decades ago. The organization has been raising its voice for the demands of folk artists for a long time. Deepak Biswas, president of this organization and Secretary Gokul Hazra know how they have raised their demand through conferences and local programs at various levels. Their demands include inclusion of folk art subjects in the school curriculum, introduction of a fixed allowance of Rs 3,000 and a pension of Rs 5,000 for performing folk art in school functions.
