Focus on tourism and sports city in Amaravati: Chandrababu Naidu

Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said that Amaravati should showcase the glory of Telugu culture to the world. He directed officials to focus on implementing self-financed projects in the capital city. The 59th CRDA meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister at the Secretariat today, discussed the allocation of land to various institutions in the capital region and the provision of infrastructure for the Secretariat and HOD buildings. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the tourism project planned in Neerukonda within the capital region should be implemented as a major project. Steps should be taken to develop tourism on 167 acres of land in the area. He directed officials to prepare a plan that would attract tourists and showcase Telugu heritage. He said that the Neerukonda project should be designed as a beautiful and vibrant destination. The Chief Minister also said that sports will become one of the largest revenue-generating sectors in the future. Similarly, many other sports will also become commercially profitable, and the state should capitalize on these opportunities. The master plan for the proposed Sports City in Amaravati has been developed with this vision in mind. He emphasized that self-financed projects should be brought to Amaravati. Many large companies are showing interest in investing in the capital city, and officials should engage with them regularly.
He said that companies like DLF are reluctant to miss the opportunity to invest in Amaravati, which reflects the government’s credibility. The Amaravati brand should be further enhanced. The Chief Minister also suggested choosing an appropriate name for the proposed Telugu Cultural Center in Amaravati. He also directed officials to build a large convention center in the capital to host government and other major events.
Ministers P. Narayana and Payyavula Keshav, Chief Secretary Sai Prasad, and officials from Urban Development, CRDA, and Amaravati Development Corporation were invited. The CRDA meeting approved the allotment of 80 cents of land for the construction of a Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) office, three acres of land to the Tulluru Educational Society as compensation, and five acres of land to the APSIRD under the Panchayati Raj Department. Administrative approval of ₹2,316 crore was granted for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work for the construction of the AP Secretariat and HOD Tower. The meeting also approved the construction of a Telugu Cultural Center at an estimated cost of ₹119 crore.
