Five habitual drug peddlers arrested with 270 grams of brown sugar, cash and vehicles seized

Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, the Maitrivihar Police successfully arrested five habitual drug peddlers near Hatiasuni, close to the Water Tank, on Wednesday.

Acting on a reliable intelligence received regarding the illegal drug trade in the area, a team of cops conducted raid near the Water Tank and arrested Muna Sethi, Reka Pattanaik, Subrat Rout, Subrat Pattanaik and Tinku Mahanta.

Apart from arresting the drug peddlers, police also seized 270 grams of brown sugar, a Suzuki Ciaz car bearing Regd No- OD 02 CT 7412, a Yamaha Scooty bearing Regd No-OD 33 AK 5684, four mobile phones and cash of Rs 14,500 from their possessions.

The apprehended individuals have been identified as habitual offenders involved in multiple drug-related cases. The seized contraband and other articles have been secured, and a detailed investigation is underway to uncover further links in the drug supply network.

Police forwarded them to the court after registering Maitrivihar PS Case No. 107, dated 19.03.2025, under Sections 21(C) NDPS Act.

The criminal history of the arrested accused revealed that a total of 18 cases have been registered against Muna Sethy while Chandaka PS Case No.37/2023 U/s – 52(a) the Odisha Excise Act , 2016 has been registered against Subrat Pattanaik.
