Five Chinese citizens killed in suicide attack

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: Five Chinese nationals were killed in a suicide attack in Besham town of Shangla in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Geo News quoted police as saying. Malakand Deputy Inspector General of Police said that the attackers rammed their explosive-laden car into the vehicle in which Chinese nationals were travelling.

The Chinese nationals were reportedly engineers who were going from Islamabad to Dasu Camp. Police said that the car driver was injured in the attack and has been admitted to the local hospital.

Reuters quoted regional police chief Mohammad Ali Gandapur as saying that five Chinese citizens and their Pakistani driver were killed in the attack.

It is noteworthy that Dasu city is the site of a major dam and the area has been attacked before. In 2021, an explosion on a bus killed 13 people, including nine Chinese nationals. Detailed information in the matter is awaited. (ANI)
