Fed-up with family disputes, Odisha man poisons two minor sons

Angul: In a tragic incident, a man reportedly poisoned his two minor sons after being fed-up with repeated family disputes in Odisha’s Angul district on Friday.
One Kali Charana Pradhan of Tubey village under Jarapada police station limits of the district forcefully fed some pesticides, meant for destroying insects in cultivated lands, to two of his sons – Nila Madhab Pradhan (12) and Jigyanshu Pradhan (8).
Kali Charana reportedly reached the school of Nila Madhab and Jigyanshu at around 12 PM and from there he took the minor siblings to a forest area near the Nuakheta village under Bantala police station limits where he forcefully fed them the poisonous substance. He fed them the pesticides every time they vomited.
Fortunately, some villagers who were passing through the route found both the minor boys vomiting and rushed to the spot. On interrogation, the boys revealed the shocking reality and Kali Charana also confessed to have poisoned his sons, they rescued them in a critical condition.
The villagers took some traditional measures to help the minor boys vomit so that the poisonous substance comes out from their stomach. Soon, they also rushed the boys to Bantala hospital for treatment.
However, as their conditions were critical, they were referred to the Angul District Headquarter Hospital (DHH) where they are currently undergoing treatment.
“Some of our villagers found the boys vomiting. When asked, both of them said that their father had given them some poison. Their father also, when questioned, admitted to have forcefully poisoned them. Soon, we took them to Bantala hospital for treatment, but the doctors referred them to Angul Hospital,” said a local resident who took the boys to the hospital in his car.
“We reported the matter to the police and the cops advised us to take them to the Angul Hospital assuring that no action would be taken against us. It seems the man gave some pesticides to his sons,” he added.
