Farmers in Pamukunta face drought as ponds and groundwater dry up

With no water in the ponds or groundwater levels dropping, the crop fields are drying up. This is worrying the farmers. Farmer Ranga Venkatesh of Pamukunta village in Rajapet mandal has taken the agricultural land of Samala Murali on lease and cultivated paddy. He invested Rs. 60,000 in three and a half acres and cultivated it. The ponds on the outskirts of the village have dried up due to lack of water, and the groundwater has dried up, leaving only one borehole for irrigation. The paddy field, which was in the early stages of the crop, has already dried up to half. With nothing to do, the farmer has left the dried crop field for sheep and cattle.
