Farmer commits suicide due to crop loss
Lucknow (IANS) | A 42-year-old mango grower ended his life by suicide in Rahimabad, on the outskirts of Lucknow, after his crop was damaged by a storm on May 27. This person named Sushil Singh alias Anna was found hanging in his room with a plastic rope on Sunday.
Police has sent the body for postmortem and the matter is being investigated.
Police suspect that Sushil ended his life due to mental stress.
Rahimabad SHO Akhtar Ahmed said, preliminary investigation revealed that Sushil had bought a pickup van for business, but could not repay his loan. He planned to repay it with the profit he made from selling mangoes, but on Saturday, a thunderstorm destroyed the standing crop. The family said that he wept bitterly on seeing the mangoes lying on the ground in the garden.
He said that the post mortem report of Sushil Singh is awaited.
Ansari said Sushil is survived by his wife Gayatri Singh (38) and three daughters Shreeji (12), Shanvi (9) and Kavya Singh.
