Constant surveillance and action is being taken against anti-social elements. In this context, on February 21st, information was received from an informant that a man was intimidating people by claiming to be a CID officer and parking his Scorpio vehicle (CG 05 AU 6136) in a suspicious condition near Shraddha Welding Shop on Amatalaab Road. The vehicle had a board and logo that read “VICE PRESIDENT C.G. NATIONAL CRIME CONTROL ORG. ALL INDIA.”
Taking the information seriously, a police team immediately arrived at the scene and questioned the suspect. He identified himself as Tikeshwar Nareti (28 years old), a resident of Dangra village, Durgkondal police station, North Bastar, Kanker district. During the search, two purported identity cards were recovered from the accused, bearing the inscriptions “Crime Investigation Department” and “Crime Investigation Detective.” A preliminary examination of the documents revealed these identity cards to be fake. When asked by the police to produce certificates related to any government agency or legal appointment, he was unable to produce any valid documents. Upon rigorous interrogation, the accused admitted that he had obtained the fake ID cards in September 2025. He stated that he would extend the purported validity of these cards by making online payments and, using these cards, he attempted to evade toll taxes and exert influence at various locations.
Police seized two fake ID cards, a board with the words “NATIONAL CRIME CONTROL ORG,” a Mahindra Scorpio vehicle numbered CG 05 AU 6136, an iPhone 11 Pro (with Jio SIM), and a Samsung M12 mobile phone (with Jio and BSNL SIMs) from the accused. Police stated that the accused’s attempt to create a fake identity, posing as a government agency official, and defrauding ordinary citizens to obtain illegal benefits has been prima facie proven. A case has been registered in the City Kotwali Police Station, Dhamtari, under Crime No. 66/2026, Sections 204, 205, and 336(3) of the IPC. The accused was duly arrested on the night of February 21st and produced in court, where he was sent to jail on judicial remand. Police officials stated that the forward and backward linkages of the case are also being investigated to determine who else may be involved in the creation and use of the fake ID cards. If necessary, the relevant sections will be increased and further legal action will be taken.
