Fake call center busted in Gurugram, 9 arrested

Gurugram, (IANS) | A fake call center duping foreign nationals by posing as employees of companies like Amazon, Apple and eBay to provide customer support services was busted in Gurugram and nine people were arrested in this connection. The illegal call center was operating from the basement of a house located in Sushant Lok here. The call center owner Mayank Sharma and his associates Mukesh, Arun, Nikita, Ayushi, Himani, Ritika, Jhanvi Srivastava and Kulwinder Kaur have been arrested. Mayank Sharma is a resident of Kurukshetra.

Station House Officer Cybercrime Police Station (East) Inspector Jasveer told IANS that based on a tip-off, the police raided the center late on Thursday night. The operator of the said call center failed to produce any valid document from DoT or any other agreement related to their work.

ACP (Cyber) Priyanshu Dewan said the suspects were produced before a local court on Friday. Police detained three persons including the owner of the call center for further questioning.
