Extremely low pressure area reaches Kerala
Kerala: A very intense low pressure area over northwest Bay of Bengal has reached near Puri in Odisha. It is likely to move towards Mekha in Chhattisgarh in the next 24 hours. A low pressure system has weakened from the Kerala coast to the Karnataka coast. As a result, the Meteorological Department has announced that widespread light to moderate rain is likely over Kerala for the next 7 days. Along with this, there is a warning of heavy rain in 7 districts today (September 10). Yellow alert has been issued in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. The Meteorological Department has informed that rain with thunder and lightning and strong winds with speed up to 40 kmph are likely at isolated places. There is no ban on fishing on Kerala-Karnataka-Lakshadweep coasts. Meanwhile, the Central Meteorological Department has informed that moderate rain is likely at isolated places over Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts in the next 3 hours (8-10 am).
