Excise Minister Parimal Shuklabaidya distributed land pattas in Morigaon.

Morigaon: Today, land pattas were distributed to a total of 5151 people under the Basundhara 2.0 scheme in all three constituencies of Morigaon district.

Excise, Fisheries and Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya was the chief guest at the function held at Tarun Ram Phukan Ground in Morigaon for Morigaon and Lahirighat constituencies. He said that the earth exists from three things: mother, soil and people, and hence we consider soil as mother earth. He said that the government has adopted Basundhara scheme to give land rights to the sons of the land. He also thanked the district administration and all the people associated with Bashundhara for the successful implementation of this scheme. He said that this scheme especially covers people living in hilly, remote and tribal areas. He said that the entire process from survey to issuing leases is quite lengthy and challenging and urged people to cooperate in this regard. He said that the land lease is not a mere piece of paper but an important document of rights as children of the land.

Morigaon MLA and PTDC Chairman Ramakant Deuri participated in the meeting. He said that every landless eligible person living in Assam for centuries will get a land patta. He said that the government is continuing efforts to evict the encroachers. He said that this effort will be successful only with the cooperation of the people. He urged the eligible people to come forward for land leases. Land pattas were issued to 2,371 people in Morigaon constituency and 251 people in Lahrighat constituency today. A total of 15,787 applications were received in Morigaon constituency and 9,378 applications were received in Lahrighat constituency. The meeting was welcomed by Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Lakshminandan Sahariya. District Commissioner Debashish Sarma and Superintendent of Police Hemant Kumar Das were also present in the meeting.
