Ex-journalist abducted, murdered near Hyderabad

Hyderabad (IANS) | A former journalist was abducted and murdered by unknown persons on the outskirts of Hyderabad. The police gave this information on Monday. Some unidentified people dropped the body at a hospital in Gachibowli area of the city around 2 am. On being informed by the hospital authorities, police rushed there and identified him as Mamidi Karunakar Reddy (29), who was abducted from Kottur near Hyderabad on Sunday night.

According to the police, Karunakar was going from Cheguru to Timmapur in a car along with his friend Sridhar Reddy.

Some unidentified persons in a vehicle stopped them and took away Karunakar after beating up Reddy.

After getting the information, the police started raids to rescue the former journalist.

Later some people left the body at the hospital and fled.

Police registered a case and sent the body to Osmania Hospital for postmortem.

Reddy alleged that Karunakar was abducted by relatives of Kottur mandal level public representative Madhusuhan Reddy.

According to the police, Karunakar was earlier working in a newspaper. Later he started working as a document writer near Kottur Tehsildar’s office.

Karunakar was also working with MPP Madhusudan Reddy and his supporters in land deals. However, recently they had differences with him.

Karunakar’s family alleged that Madhusudan killed him because he feared that he might reveal his irregularities in the land deal.

Relatives of Karunakar staged a protest in Kottur demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

On the complaint of the victim’s family, the police registered a case against Madhusudan Reddy and four others and started searching for them.
